Regency carved rosewood teapoy
Regency Rosewood Teapoy
A superb sarcophagus shaped teapoy with scalloped apron edge. The interior fitted with the original two cut glass mixing bowls and four canisters, the whole being raised on an octagonal column with gadrooned carving to the pedestal base, on four hip splayed legs with carved leaf motifs, terminating with brass paw feet and castors. The slightly domed lid and sides are elaborately carved and have the original brass ring pull handles, again beautifully decorated with a fruit and foliate design.
A very attractive and decorative piece that is finely carved and very well made. Good condition throughout. Circa 1820
